The Jura is Switzerland's second-highest mountain range. Geographically, it lies on the north-western edge of Switzerland, between Aargau and Geneva, and forms the border area with France. According to the canton, a distinction is made between the Bernese, the Neuenburger, Solothurner and Waadtländer Jura. There is also the canton of Jura. The many spruces and the meadows which form the typical image of the Jura bestow the region with a very Nordic character. |

The plicated mountain range is one of the least densely populated regions in Switzerland, and offers plenty space and room. Many of the mountain valleys are located at heights between 700 and 1,000 metres above sea level. Wooded hills, gorges and valleys with an industrial history such as the horology and machinery industries make it into an extremely interesting region which has a lot to offer. |

Hiking and mountain biking are the best possible ways to get around here. You will continually come across "Métairien" (mountain inns) where you can fortify yourself with local dishes, frequently fresh from the farm. |

In the winter, endless cross-country ski runs, practically unlimited opportunities for snow-shoe hiking and smaller alpine skiing areas invite you to participate above the fog belt. |
